Dear Parents/Carers

Information Collection - Phased Re-opening of Schools

After the recent Government announcements in relation to a phased re-opening of schools (incl. early years’ settings) to some year groups from 1st June, you may have some questions.

We have sent all Parents/Carers a short survey to complete by email today. This will assist us to begin our planning e.g. staffing ratios, risk assessments and staggered start/finish times etc.

Can we ask that all surveys are returned by 4pm on Monday 18th May.

Please be assured that we are working hard to prepare for the possibility of a phased reopening in order to protect everyone. Our priority is, as always, the safety of our children and staff.

Keep safe and well.

Mark & Leanne x

11/05/2020 - Latest Parent/Carer Update

Dear Parents/Carers

Government Announcement - Sunday 10 May 2020

Thank you for your continued support and patience at this very challenging time.

Following Sunday's announcement at 7pm, school leaders & early years providers have no further information than that which was provided last night. We are waiting to receive more information from the government about what this means

for Discovery Pre-School. Therefore, in the short term, nothing has changed.  So it remains the case that we are closed until further notice.

We will continue to keep you informed of any further information in the coming days and weeks once we are able to do so. As always, if you have any questions, please email admin@discoverypreschool.co.uk and we will respond to you directly.

Once again we would like to wish you and your family all the best.

Keep safe and well.

Leanne & Mark x

15/04/2020 - Latest Parent/Carer Update

Dear Parents/Carers

Just a little note to say that we are missing all of our little friends but hope that you and your families are keeping safe and staying well?

We still remain available to our key worker parents and will be happy to support you further should you be required to work on the front line over the coming weeks.

Whilst your little ones are enjoying this unexpected time at home with you, we are currently installing a soft play climbing frame, for their enjoyment.  We are confident that they will be excited to play on this when they return!

We are also developing a Facebook page so that you will be able to see the fun activities that your child participates in.

Please continue to keep an eye on our website during this time as we will be posting up some activities that you can create with your children, along with updated information.

In the meantime, Twinkl.co.uk are currently offering some fantastic free resources for EYFS through to KS3/4 to help support your child’s learning and fun activities at home.

Keep safe and well.

31/03/2020 - Latest Parent/Carer Update

We hope you are all keeping well and that you are able to enjoy this unexpected time with your little ones.

Please find below our latest update:

Nursery & Pre-School Closure - Discovery has today, made the decision not to charge Nursery & pre-school parents during this crisis from the 01/04/20 until further notice. Whilst other Nurseries around the country are choosing to charge full prices/take partial payment/donations and/or charge retention payments, we feel that this would only add to the pressures that we are all currently under and therefore this will help parents that would have otherwise struggled to pay, during this difficult time.

We continue to remain on standby to; direct parents/carers of vulnerable children and those parents/carers who are key workers, to local childcare hubs where there are no other means of care available to you.

We look forward to welcoming our nursery and pre-schoolers back to Discovery as soon as we are advised that it is safe to do so.

18/03/2020 - Latest Parent/Carer Update

Nursery & Pre-School Closure - It is with regret that we will close our pre-school on Friday. We are doing this to safeguard our children, staff and families and to help prevent any further spread of this awful virus and prevent further loss of lives.

We will however only offer places to 'key workers' as per the government  guidelines due to be announced shortly.

Key workers relate to people who work within the public sector in roles that are vital to the infrastructure of the community. While a full list has yet to be revealed it would includes roles such as:

  • Health Workers
  • Police Officers
  • Firefighters
  • Prison Staff

Please check the Government website  https://www.gov.uk/government/news/schools-colleges-and-early-years-settings-to-close for details on key workers.

Parents/carers are urged to disclose if you are listed as 'key workers' and require our service. We are unsure at this stage if we will be required to host this facility or if our parents/carers will be asked to take their children to a local hub.

If you fall into this category please email us at admin@discoverypreschool.co.uk and we will do all we can to support you and the vital role you're playing in our community.
